Foreword:

We here at BWCE pride ourselves on a high standard of quality for our animals produced and the customer service provided! Every snake here is an investment of equipment, housing, feeding, hours worked cleaning and handling, research, and most importantly- care and passion for the animals themselves. We understand that purchasing one of our animals is an investment for you as well and have developed this section to ensure breeder and buyer are both aware and in agreeance on the policies involved in the exciting process of bringing a BWCE snake into your home or facility!

This page will detail procedures and outline parameters involved in our business together- a large percentage of reptile centered business is done online and we want you to know what you can expect from us and the level of support we are able to offer you as a customer throughout the process. At Blackwood we want all of our clients to have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that there are provisions and procedures in place to ensure your animal is well cared for, well shipped and you are well protected as a buyer, and us as breeders. Healthy animals and healthy client relationships are priority #1.

On this note: We have care guides and resources available for all species we keep, breed and sell and are happy to forward you resources that we've vetted as current and accurate pertaining to their care and husbandry BUT that said:

Keeping snakes is a wonderful experience but does require substantial research, specific equipment and upfront cost to be prepared. Our policies are structured with this responsibility of the keeper in mind- please feel free to visit our "RESOURCES" page to learn more about the snakes we keep and follow our provided links to get started on forming a base knowledge of husbandry for these species if needed!

1. PURCHASING

The first step to purchasing your Blackwood snake is selection! 

All animals will be posted individually with photo(s) and labelled with their gender (expressed in 1.0 for males, 0.1 for females, 0.0 for unsexed), genes carried (visual and het), the pairing that produced the animal and their hatch or birth date. Weights will always be available by request if not listed.

 

We are always happy to provide additional photos and videos of an animal for a client who needs additional visual aides to make their selection, though we do ask that buyers be conscious of our time and reserve large photo or video requests for a time where they are prepared to purchase.

Once you have selected your snake and have all of its information, a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to be paid by the client, and we mark the animal as "On Hold" once it is received. This deposit keeps the animal in reserve until its total bill is paid and the animal ships to/is picked up by its keeper!

2. SHIPPING

Many clients will be purchasing our animals from out of province and therefore require a shipping or delivery service to get their animal to them! We are happy to offer you full support during this process and will take care of estimates, communication with shipping service providers, safe packaging and tracking of your precious cargo. Blackwood is committed to going above and beyond to ensure healthy arrival and a smooth trip for all BWCE animals in transit.

Canada being the climate it is, we have good and bad seasons for shipping- especially since Blackwood is in one of the Eastern provinces and Western clients are quite a trip away. 

​

Approximately Late May- Early October we can ship Canada Wide (2-day shipping)

Late October- Early May we can ship as far west as Ontario only (1- Day/Overnight Shipping)

Companies implemented are Reptile Express, Reptile Runner and with planning and confirmation we can occasionally ship within the Maritimes via East Cost Exotics!

​

Shipping for most juvenile/sub-adult animals via Reptile Express or Reptile Runner is between $100.00-$120.00

ECE within the maritimes can range from $25 to $40 at this time, should the service be available. 

​

Local delivery within the Fredericton area (<30km radius from dowtown) is 25$

Delivery within New Brunswick: Saint John- $75, Moncton- $100 *Availability and pricing of this service subject to change*

3. LIVE ARRIVAL/HEALTH GUARUNTEE

DOA Policy: Notification, Photos of animal on top of shipping label and video of animal must be provided within 2 hours of delivery receipt. We may ask for additional photos and information above this depending on the situation. In the unfortunate circumstance that your animal is DOA, we will replace the animal with another of equal value, shipping for this animal is to be paid for by the client. Any animals arriving DOA without sufficient documentation or reported outside of the 2 hr notification window will not be replaced.

Arrival Guarantee:

a) Animals are guaranteed to arrive as the gender, morph, and health advertised. The buyer is responsible to verify gender, morph and health and report any issues within 48 hours of arrival. Any health concerns will not be considered for replacement/refund without veterinary documentation stating issue forwarded to us within this time frame.

 

b) Any mis-gendered animals must also be reported within this time frame (quality video of pop/probe or veterinarian confirmation req.). In this circumstance we will replace the animal with one of equal value and the appropriate gender once the original animal is returned to us and passes a 14-day quarantine. This gives us opportunity to ensure it has been returned to us in good health. All associated shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

c) Morph for the animal dictated is to the best of our knowledge and despite continuing to strive to learn and grow in this ever changing "morph market", remains theoretical. We commit to labelling and advertising our animals as honestly and accurately as possible and guarantee the animal you receive will be the one you selected. In the extremely unlikely circumstance that you receive a completely different animal than the one purchased (must notify within 2 hours of package receipt), the client is responsible for the shipping costs to return it to the facility, while we will cover shipping costs of the correct animal to the client once the animal who was transported in error has passed the 14-day return quarantine here with us.

4. PAYMENT/PLANS/REFUNDS

a) Payment Plans:

We offer payment plans on purchases over $500 (before shipping) on a case by case basis. Duration of payment plans ranges from 30-90 days from receipt of 25% deposit, depending on the size/value of the order and is at our discretion.

 

Setting up a Payment Plan- In the event that we participate with a client for a payment plan, the duration, amounts and completion date must be agreed upon at the time of the laid 25% deposit. Dates and amounts are firm and we commit to providing formal invoice/payment schedule at the time of deposit as well as an updated invoice copy with each payment. Once a payment plan is agreed upon it is set and will not be open for editing, rearranging, postponing or alteration at any time for any reason or circumstance. 

 

Penalties- A late payment incurs a fee of $100 to be added to the total bill as a fine- 2 late or missed payments will effectively terminate the payment arrangement. In the case of automatic termination due to late or missed payments or any kind of client initiated termination of the payment arrangement- all payments made to that point will be retained by BWCE as a fine and will not be refunded.

 

Please think seriously before engaging in a large purchase and payment plan! We want to make even our high tag animals available to clients but an animal and a large value payment arrangement are both notable commitments. A client prepared to support their arranged purchase will result in a happy client and a quality animal in their happy home!

b) Method of Payment:

For local clientele we can currently offer credit card and debit payments via Square or cash purchase/payments at location or meet location. 

​

For online clients we accept: E-transfer, PayPal, Bank deposit or Mail in money order

​

ALL PAYMENTS, NO MATTER THE METHOD, WILL RECIEVE AN ELECTRONIC INVOICE FOR CLIENT RECORDS! :)

c) Refunds and Returns:

The 25% deposit required to hold animal(s) is non-refundable- the only circumstance in which BWCE would provide a monetary refund of a deposit is in a case where we were no longer able/willing to provide the animal on hold, in which case a refund will be issued to the client within 30 days of decision/notification. 

​

In the case where a snake needs to be returned for any of the reasons listed under "3. Live Arrrival/Health Guarantee" all associated shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer unless otherwise stated in above policy. The buyer is responsible for the health of the animal being returned while it is in the care of the buyer. All returned animals must undergo a 14-day quarantine here at our facility to ensure they have been returned in good health before the exchange/refund is approved and issued. Please allow up to 30-days for all refunds.
